Noel and Liam Gallagher have shared another remarkable moment in the story of Oasis’ reunion, appearing together publicly at the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of their new documentary, Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger.

The Gallagher brothers walked the red carpet together on Saturday, September 5, marking their first major off-stage public appearance together since Oasis reunited for their Live ’25 tour. 

And in true Oasis fashion, the occasion quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the festival.

Eight-Minute Standing Ovation

The documentary received an extraordinary eight-minute standing ovation following its world premiere at Venice.

Liam and Noel appeared visibly moved by the reaction, holding hands and raising their arms together as the audience applauded. At one point, Noel appeared to wipe away a tear, while Liam seemed more amused by the unusually long reception. 

The atmosphere reportedly felt more like an Oasis concert than a traditional film premiere, with fans singing along to the band’s music during the screening, including “Champagne Supernova.” 

Italian fans had also gathered outside wearing Oasis merchandise and bucket hats, chanting the band’s name and singing songs while waiting for the brothers to arrive.

A Rare Moment of Unity for the Gallagher Brothers

For Oasis fans, seeing Liam and Noel standing side by side is significant.

The brothers’ relationship has been defined by decades of arguments and public tension. Oasis split in 2009 following a backstage confrontation involving Noel, bringing one of Britain’s biggest rock bands to an abrupt end.

Their reconciliation was finally announced in 2024, leading to the hugely successful Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour in 2025. It marked the first time the brothers had performed together since the band’s split. 

The Venice appearance now offers fans another glimpse of how dramatically their relationship has changed.

Don’t Look Back in Anger Takes Fans Behind the Reunion

Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the documentary follows Oasis during their comeback, combining concert footage with backstage moments, rehearsals and interviews.

It also features the brothers’ first joint interview in more than 20 years, offering a rare look at their relationship away from the stage. 

The film focuses heavily on the emotional journey surrounding the reunion, including the uncertainty that surrounded the band’s return and the process of getting Liam and Noel back on stage together.

Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, was involved in the project and has highlighted the story of reconciliation at the centre of the film. 

Could Oasis Return Again in 2027?

The success of the reunion has inevitably led to speculation about another Oasis tour.

The band has already fuelled fan theories through cryptic social media activity, while Noel has made comments that have only added to speculation about what could happen next summer. 

For now, there is no officially confirmed 2027 Oasis tour, but the Venice appearance will undoubtedly give fans more reason to believe that the Gallagher story may not be finished yet.

When Can Fans Watch the Documentary?

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger will receive a limited theatrical release, including IMAX screenings, from September 11, before arriving on Disney+ later this year. 

After years of arguments, separation and uncertainty, seeing Liam and Noel Gallagher standing together once again — and being celebrated by thousands of fans — feels like a fitting new chapter for one of Britain’s most legendary rock bands.
