Blondie are officially back with new music. The iconic American band have announced High Noon, their first studio album in almost a decade, alongside the release of its opening track and lead single, “Spectral Eyes”, featuring former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
Scheduled for release on 26 February 2027 through BMG, High Noon will be the band’s 12th studio album and their first collection of new material since 2017’s Pollinator. The announcement marks an exciting new chapter for Debbie Harry, Chris Stein and the band, bringing together their familiar new wave foundations with a wider range of musical influences and collaborators.
“Spectral Eyes” is available now and was written by Marr, who also performs guitar on the track. Its release offers the first glimpse of an album that brings together artists from different corners of the rock and alternative music scenes.
Johnny Marr, Glen Matlock and More Join Blondie
One of the most notable aspects of High Noon is its impressive list of collaborators. Alongside Johnny Marr, the record features Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols, Zach Condon of Beirut, and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius.
The album combines elements of rock and punk with dance music and Latin rhythms, reflecting Blondie’s longstanding interest in exploring different sounds rather than remaining within a single genre.
Debbie Harry described the project as a combination of the band’s different influences and eras, brought together to create something new. She also explained that the music reflects the present moment and the experiences shaping the group today.
The collaboration with Marr is particularly interesting given his long-standing influence on British alternative music. Best known for his work with The Smiths, the guitarist brings another connection between the British and American music scenes to Blondie’s latest project.
A Tribute to Clem Burke
High Noon will also carry particular significance for Blondie, as it features the final recordings of co-founding drummer Clem Burke, who died in 2025.
Burke was an essential part of the band’s identity from their early days in New York’s emerging punk and new wave scene. His energetic drumming helped shape some of Blondie’s most recognisable recordings and performances.
The album sessions began in 2022, with the band working alongside producer John Congleton, who previously collaborated with them on Pollinator. Much of the recording was completed before Burke’s death, making the new record an important final document of his contribution to the group.
For longtime fans, High Noon therefore represents more than simply the band’s first album in nine years. It also preserves the work of a musician whose influence was central to Blondie’s sound and history.
Inside the High Noon Tracklist
The upcoming album will feature 13 tracks, opening with “Spectral Eyes” and moving through a collection that includes original material and a reinterpretation of an earlier song.
The confirmed tracklist is:
- Spectral Eyes
- Heartbreak Kid
- Come Back Home
- Tambo Tambo
- Man Who Had No Face
- The End
- Little Metal Drummer
- Sleepwalking
- Whistle Into The Wind
- Antifreeze
- East of Eden
- Bad Underwear
- Ah, Sunflower, Weary of Time
Another interesting inclusion is “Sleepwalking”, written by Glen Matlock, while “Little Metal Drummer” revisits a song originally recorded by Blondie co-founding keyboardist Jimmy Destri for his solo album Heart on a Wall.
The variety of contributors and material suggests a record that looks beyond nostalgia while retaining the experimental spirit that has been part of Blondie’s identity since the beginning.
Blondie’s Legacy Continues
Emerging from New York’s downtown music scene in the 1970s, Blondie became one of the defining acts of the new wave movement. Led by Debbie Harry, the group developed a distinctive sound that brought together punk, pop, disco, reggae and other influences.
Their catalogue includes internationally recognised songs such as “Heart of Glass”, “Call Me”, “The Tide Is High” and “Rapture”. The latter also became notable for incorporating rap into a song that reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100.
With High Noon, Blondie are preparing to add another chapter to that history. The involvement of musicians such as Johnny Marr and Glen Matlock also highlights the band’s continuing connections with artists who helped shape alternative and punk music on both sides of the Atlantic.
The album arrives on 26 February 2027 via BMG, while “Spectral Eyes” is available to listen to now. Almost ten years after Pollinator, Blondie are returning with a project that celebrates their past while continuing to explore new musical territory.
