Bad Bunny has officially added an Emmy Award to his growing list of achievements. The Puerto Rican superstar won his first Emmy on Saturday night at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys, with his groundbreaking Super Bowl LX Halftime Show sweeping all seven categories in which it was nominated. 

Officially titled The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny, the production became the most-awarded Super Bowl halftime show in Emmy history, surpassing the previous record of three wins. 

A Seven-Emmy Sweep

The halftime show was recognised across seven different categories, highlighting both Bad Bunny’s performance and the enormous production behind it.

Among the awards were Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Music Direction, Outstanding Choreography for Variety Programming, Outstanding Sound Mixing, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction, Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork, and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. 

The win for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) is particularly significant, making Bad Bunny’s performance only the third Super Bowl halftime show ever to win that category. 

For Bad Bunny, the victory marks another major milestone in a career that has increasingly crossed the boundaries between music, television and global entertainment.

Bad Bunny Makes Emmy History

The Emmy recognition comes after a spectacular year for the artist.

His Super Bowl performance was already the most-nominated halftime show in Emmy history, receiving nine nominations when this year’s contenders were announced. It ultimately converted seven of those nominations into wins. 

The show also featured a strong message about Latin identity and the meaning of America as a continent, incorporating flags and references to countries throughout the Americas.

Bad Bunny’s performance ended with the message “Together we’re America,” reinforcing one of the central themes of the spectacular: celebrating the cultural connections across the Americas. 

Jay-Z Also Adds Another Emmy

Bad Bunny wasn’t the only major music figure to benefit from the historic production.

Jay-Z, who served as an executive producer on the halftime show, also received another Emmy through the production. He previously won an Emmy for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime performance in 2025. 

Meanwhile, music director Miguel Gandelman won for Outstanding Music Direction, becoming the third person to receive that award for a Super Bowl halftime show. 

Another Emmy for Bad Bunny?

Interestingly, Bad Bunny is also connected to another Emmy win this year.

The Saturday Night Live episode he hosted in 2025 won the Emmy for Outstanding Makeup for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program. However, that award goes to the makeup team rather than Bad Bunny himself, meaning his Super Bowl victory remains his first personal Emmy win. 

The main 78th Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, hosted by Mariska Hargitay. 

For now, Bad Bunny can officially add Emmy winner to his résumé — and his historic Super Bowl performance has established a new benchmark for what a halftime show can achieve on television.
