Harry Styles has officially begun his highly anticipated 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City, launching the American leg of his Together, Together tour with a powerful tribute to the late Dolly Parton.
The sold-out opening night took place on August 26, marking the beginning of a major run that will continue through October 31. The residency represents Styles’ only US performances of 2026.
Harry Styles Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton
One of the most emotional moments of the opening concert came towards the end of the show, when Styles paused to remember Dolly Parton, who died on August 25 at the age of 80.
Speaking to the Madison Square Garden crowd, Styles thanked the musicians who had inspired him throughout his career and specifically dedicated the moment to Parton.
“Dolly, we love you, thank you so much,” he told the audience before Parton’s recording of “I Will Always Love You” played through the arena. Fans raised their phone lights and sang along, creating an emotional tribute to one of country music’s most influential figures.
The moment came just one day after Parton’s death and added a particularly poignant element to the first night of Styles’ New York residency.
A Completely Revamped Setlist
The opening show also introduced several changes to Styles’ usual setlist.
The singer opened with “Dance No More”, while the concert featured live debuts of songs including “Carolina”, “Cinema” and “Kiwi”. Other fan favourites such as “Watermelon Sugar”, “As It Was” and “Sign of the Times” were also included.
The 21-song set gave fans a mixture of material from across Styles’ solo career, including songs from his latest album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.
30 Shows in New York
The Madison Square Garden residency is one of the biggest commitments of Styles’ current tour.
The 30 concerts will continue until October 31, when Styles will close the run with a special “Harryween” performance. Jamie xx is supporting Styles across all 30 dates, while additional special guests are scheduled for selected shows.
The entire residency is sold out, demonstrating the enormous demand surrounding Styles’ return to the United States.
Another Major Milestone for Harry Styles
The New York residency follows another record-breaking chapter for Styles in the UK.
Earlier this year, he completed a 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium, breaking the previous record for the longest single residency by a musician at the venue.
The Madison Square Garden shows now give Styles another iconic venue in which to establish a major live presence.
For fans, the 30-night run also offers the possibility of different setlists, special guests and unexpected moments throughout the two-month residency.
A New York Chapter Begins
With his first night already delivering a major tribute to Dolly Parton and several changes to his live show, Harry Styles’ Madison Square Garden residency is off to an emotional start.
The singer will now spend the next several weeks performing for sold-out crowds in one of the world’s most famous music venues.
