Aerosmith Announce Two Major Comeback Shows at the Hollywood Bowl with an All-Star Line-Up

After stepping away from touring in 2024 following Steven Tyler’s vocal injury, Aerosmith are preparing to return to the stage for two special concerts in Los Angeles. Featuring an impressive line-up of guest musicians, the shows will celebrate the band’s legacy and mark a significant moment in their history.

Aerosmith are officially returning to the stage. The legendary American rock band have announced two special performances at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, scheduled for 29 October and 1 November 2026. Titled California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends, the concerts will bring together some of the biggest names in rock, metal, hip-hop and country music for a celebration of the band’s extraordinary career.

The announcement arrives two years after Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring in August 2024, following an injury to frontman Steven Tyler’s larynx that affected his ability to perform. The decision marked the end of their planned farewell tour, leaving fans uncertain about whether they would ever see the band perform together again.

Now, these two Hollywood Bowl appearances offer a highly anticipated opportunity to celebrate Aerosmith’s music and their lasting influence on rock.

An All-Star Line-Up of Special Guests

The California, Dream On concerts will feature an impressive collection of guest performers from across the music industry. Confirmed names include The Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Billy Idol, Eric Church, Slash, Duff McKagan, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Morello.

The line-up also includes Sammy Hagar, Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez of Alice in Chains, Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Pat Monahan of Train, Sully Erna of Godsmack and Marcus King, among others.

Don Was will serve as music director, helping bring together the different performers for the two special evenings.

The organisers have confirmed that the line-up will vary between the two dates, meaning each concert will offer a different combination of musicians and performances. Additional guests and surprise appearances are also expected to be announced.

Rather than following the format of a traditional Aerosmith concert, the events are designed as collaborative celebrations of the band’s catalogue, bringing together artists whose musical backgrounds reflect the group’s wide-reaching influence.

Steven Tyler’s Return Following His Vocal Injury

The announcement is particularly significant because of Steven Tyler’s health-related retirement from touring. In 2023, the singer suffered a larynx injury during Aerosmith’s farewell tour, forcing the band to postpone performances before eventually announcing that they could no longer continue touring.

The decision was difficult for the group and their international fanbase, particularly after decades of energetic live performances and extensive touring.

Although Tyler has made occasional appearances since the announcement, the Hollywood Bowl concerts represent the band’s first officially announced full live performances together since stepping away from the road.

The shows will therefore be closely watched by fans interested in seeing how the musicians approach this new chapter. However, the precise format of Tyler’s participation and the individual performances has not been detailed.

Celebrating More Than Five Decades of Rock History

Formed in Boston in 1970, Aerosmith became one of the most successful American rock bands of all time. With their combination of hard rock, blues influences, powerful guitar riffs and Tyler’s distinctive vocals, they helped shape the sound of mainstream rock across several generations.

Their catalogue includes some of the genre’s most recognisable songs, including “Dream On”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Walk This Way”, “Crazy” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”.

The band also crossed musical boundaries through collaborations with artists from different genres. Their partnership with Run-DMC on a reworked version of “Walk This Way” in 1986 became a landmark moment in music history, helping bring hip-hop and rock audiences together.

The upcoming Hollywood Bowl celebrations reflect that same spirit of collaboration, with performers from different musical backgrounds joining Aerosmith to recognise their contribution to popular music.

When and Where Can Fans See Aerosmith?

Both concerts will take place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California. The first performance is scheduled for 29 October, followed by a second show on 1 November 2026.

General ticket sales begin on 10 October, with additional ticket information available through the official event website.

A portion of the proceeds will also benefit Steven Tyler’s Janie’s Fund, the organisation supporting young women who have experienced abuse and neglect.

With two special performances, an extensive guest list and the return of a band that once announced the end of its touring career, California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends is shaping up to be one of the most notable rock events of the year.

For longtime fans, the concerts represent an opportunity to celebrate the music that has defined Aerosmith’s legacy. For a new generation of listeners, they offer a chance to experience the influence of a band whose songs have remained part of rock culture for more than five decades.
