Sheryl Crow is entering a new chapter with the announcement of her upcoming studio album, Pick You Up, and the release of its first single, “Freedom Bus”, featuring singer-songwriter Jesse Welles.
Announced on August 14, 2026, the project will be Crow’s 12th studio album and is scheduled for release on October 9. The announcement arrives alongside “Freedom Bus”, a reflective new track that explores freedom, history, division and the importance of meaningful dialogue.
“Freedom Bus” Introduces a New Era
“Freedom Bus” serves as the closing track on Pick You Up and features Jesse Welles, adding a folk-inspired dimension to Crow’s familiar rock and Americana sound.
The song takes a thoughtful look at the idea of freedom and what it means in contemporary America. Crow has explained that the track was inspired by the sacrifices made throughout history to establish and protect individual freedoms, while encouraging people to approach disagreements through dialogue rather than hostility.
The subject matter gives the single a more socially conscious tone, continuing Crow’s long history of using songwriting to reflect on American culture and everyday life.
A Seven-Track Album
Unlike a traditional full-length record with a large tracklist, Pick You Up will feature seven songs, all written by Crow and longtime collaborator Jeff Trott.
