In his time, Andrew has mixed or engineered for legendary acts like Linkin Park, Audioslace, Black Sabbath and Green Day. Nowadays, Scheps is a member of the University of Huddersfield’s Music and Audio Production (MAP) research group in their School of Computing and Engineering.
Andrew said of the uni: “At Huddersfield I love the combination of very in-depth study of parts of the process but always letting people get through a project understanding every aspect of it. Students really have an idea of what to expect when they come out of here. It’s a really great foundation.”
Dr Andrew Scheps is also working alongside Dr Mark Mynett on the Heaviness in Metal Music Production (HiMMP) Research Project. Following a nomination from Mynett, Scheps was awarded the title of Visiting Professor.
The HiMMP is the world’s first academically funded research project into the characteristics that make metal metal. Across the course of the project, producers will mix a track featuring heavy metal staples including doom metal and blast beats, from artists like Filth, My Dying Bride, and Primal Fear.
