Via a particularly scenic route taking in Glasgow, Glass Cristina are Mexico’s musical secret weapon, an extraordinary multi-armed electro-pop beast nestling in the shadow’s of the country’s ancient pyramids. Kings of Nowhere is Glass Cristina’s latest single, leading to the much-anticipated release of their album Nudity which has been in the works for the past two years.
Glass Cristina is the first band to be signed to Vegan Caníbal, an offshoot of renowned record label Blanco y Negro, Spain’s most successful independent record label, with over 30 years of success promoting the likes of Moby, Carl Cox and Sven Vath. Although having concentrated on dance music for the entirety of their existence, so impressed were the label bosses that they set up a branch of Blanco y Negro specifically to ensure they could work with Glass Cristina.
The trio also recently performed at the 2019 Sziget Festival, alongside the likes of The 1975, Jungle, Twenty One Pilots, Foo Fighters, among others. If you’re new to the band’s music, don’t worry – one of their instantly recognisable motifs in their dazzling videos is the use of masks – not that the band are horrific to look at, you understand.
