J Balvin and Argentine model Valentina Ferrer have officially ended their relationship after nearly a decade together. Ferrer confirmed the separation on Wednesday, September 16, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the couple.

The model shared a statement through her Instagram Stories, explaining that she and the Colombian superstar had decided to go their separate ways and asking for privacy as they navigate the new chapter.

Ferrer addressed the breakup in a brief but personal statement.

She explained that after sharing years and important moments together, she and José, J Balvin’s real name, had decided to take separate paths. She described the decision as one made with love and mutual respect, while stressing that their family remains important to both of them. 

The model also made clear that their son, Río, will remain their priority.

“Our priority will continue to be accompanying Río with all our love,” Ferrer said in her statement. 

She ended by asking the public to respect the private nature of the situation, saying that they are going through the process calmly.
