With over 40 years experience in the genre, it’s hardly surprising that Crack of Dawn have produced another brilliant track.
However, this time, the music has some inspiration from singer Melba Moore. The injection of an R&B vibe really makes this tune stand out compared to the band’s other tracks.
‘Tiempo’ tells a heartbreaking story about two lovers who have parted ways, needing time to find themselves again. The feelings and emotions of this kind of situation are exemplified perfectly with soft and mellow tones.
As the track begins, there are a plethora of relaxing sounds and notes that really set the scene for this heartfelt song.
The harmony of lyrics and instruments is excellent at carrying on this theme, helping to express the emotion that writers Dennis Nieves and Michael Dunston hope to convey.
However, it doesn’t stop there. Just as lyrics and instruments work in harmony, so do the opposing voices.
The male voice at the beginning helps set the scene, but the addition of Melba Moore really does take the single to the next level. It provides extra depth, adding more emotion to the story of the break up.
Some may describe it as a slower version of Broken Strings by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado, expressing both perspectives of the break up through the male and female voice.
Towards the end of the track, ‘Tiempo’ begins to gain momentum and expresses an upbeat soul vibe, perhaps a sign that both parties are beginning to truly understand their circumstances?
Ultimately, the marriage of the bands Soul vibe and the R&B feel from Moore makes for an excellent, mellow track that anyone can relax to.
