…not that the Opera House in Sydney has ever been tempted to leave and go elsewhere but at least we have got your attention and now you need to join us in praising the wonderous, yes wonderous Tia Beale , she is cool, a little bit Paloma Faith’ish and we just love her!

The stylish 20-year-old, who hails from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, studied at Sydney’s Australian Institute of Music (AIM) and initially harbouring dreams of becoming an actor, something which has clearly stayed with her, as you can see by her performance in the stunning video for Do It Over:

Did you check the video? Did you love the retro uber coolness? You did? well we thank you so much as we did too, so what else do we know? Tia Beale’s debut five-track EP, TIA, has just hit streaming sites, with a physical CD release, distributed by MGM, also available. Recorded in collaboration with music industry veteran Steve Clisby (who has jammed with Jimi Hendrix and played alongside Kool & The Gang and Chaka Khan), who also acted as producer, Tia’s EP traverses a variety of genres, from the gentle balladry of Do It Over, to the dance floor pop of Coke & Mentos, synth and syncopated beats of Synergy, and hip-hop-flavoured Keep On Coming Back. The forthcoming single is Do It Over, a track which though upbeat melodically, speaks lyrically of the devastating loss of a close friend of Tia’s to suicide.

So yes we shouldn’t be too joyous in our appreciation as this side to her shows compassion and poignancy but honestly to be able to bring brightness to such shade is a real talent and that is very much what shines through with Tia , a talent that we feel will be round for a long time.
