Under the Covers With…Olisha

South African pop is a not too familiar face in European or American record store racks, but Olisha Naicker could be poised to change all that. You know the drill, here come the questions:

You’re on your fourth album with a major label – they insist you do a covers album, whereby you interpret your favourite works in your own style. Please select the ten tracks you’d ideally like to cover, along with a brief explanation as to why that artist or track means something to you.

You’re allowed ONE guest artist on the album to contribute to one track

  1. Backstreet Boys – “We’ve Got It Goin On”

This was the first video of Backstreet Boys that I watched on tv and I automatically fell in love with their music. They are ultimate my inspiration.

  1. Emeli Sande – “Breaking the Law”

I love Emeli Sande’s music. I am a huge fan. She delivery of each lyric is so sincere and effective.  –  This is the song that I would love for Emeli to contribute to

  1. Arijit Singh – “Channa Mereya”

His music is so heartfelt and the messages of the songs are emotional.

  1. Richard Marx – “Right Here Waiting For You”

I love the sincerity in this song’s message. What a great song.

  1. Jay Sean – “Eyes On You”

This was the first video I watched on TV of an artist artist on a mainstream music channel (The Lick with Trevor Nelson). I have been Jay’s biggest fan since then (My friend and I even got pushed out of my place during his concert due to the crowd).

  1. Justin Timberlake – “All Over Again”

Justin is a phenomenal artist. I am a huge fan of his music. This song is particular is part of my favourite concert of his.

  1. Leona Lewis – “Lovebirds”

I have been hooked on this song even since I heard it. Leona is a fantastic artist.

  1. Atomic Kitten – “Cradle”

I still play Atomic Kitten’s music in my car today. Great pop songs.

  1. The Saturdays – “Chasing Lights”

I love their songs. Great, melodic music.

  1. Ellie Goulding – “Love Me Like You Do”

This song showcased her voice in a different style in my opinion. I am a huge fan of Ellie’s music and become an even bigger fan when I heard her voice on this song.
