Francisco Bayon Talks Everything ‘When I Call You’

Tell us a little bit about where you’re from?

I am from Genoa, a city by the sea on the North West coast of Italy.

How has your location affected your music?

Genoa is a very multiethnic Mediterranean city, where different people from all over the world mix just as well as the most various music genres. Its cosmopolitan character is reflected in music as well.  Heavy metal was very prolific about 15/20 years ago when I started singing professionally, with local bands well known all over Italy. So this certainly influenced my musical taste and production. However, later on I approached Latin music and based my career on it, though maintaining a strong interest and a sort of versatile approach towards all music genres.  I know heavy metal and latin sound as an extremely opposite combination, but it just shows how varied the musical background is in my hometown.

What genre would you describe your music as?

I am basically focused on Latin /Caribbean dance music, but my latest single When I Call You is more club dance with echoes of Latin.  It is something which breaks from traditional standards of both genres.

What are you listening too? What are your influences?

I love music of all genres, with no restriction!

Where can we see you play?

On 31st of August I will be singing in Genoa.  For all next dates you can check my official website and get all the details.

Are there any evocative personal experiences that come through in your music?

My trip to Cuba certainly opened my mind not only to a new way of writing, singing and living music, but also to a new way of living life and enjoying the beautiful things it offers.

Tell us about your live setup?

I basically sing alone but the show is often lived up by the choreographic support of dancers and Cuban musicians.

What’s next?

I am considering collaborations with some foreign artists but I will tell all when things are properly arranged! In the meantime I am fully focused on promoting and introducing When I Call You, which I really believe in.
