Noah Kahan steps into the world of Panem with “Draw You Out”, an emotionally driven new single written for the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan has released his new single “Draw You Out”, the lead track from the soundtrack of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Arriving on 2 October 2026, the song marks Kahan’s first contribution to the globally recognised film franchise and brings his introspective songwriting to the dystopian world created by author Suzanne Collins.
Written specifically for the upcoming film, “Draw You Out” explores themes of grief, love, perseverance and the lasting impact of personal connections. The track draws inspiration from the relationship between young Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, and Lenore Dove Baird, portrayed by Whitney Peak. Their story forms part of the emotional backdrop of the film, which explores the events surrounding the 50th Hunger Games.
A Creative Collaboration with Aaron Dessner
For the new release, Kahan reunites with Grammy-winning producer and musician Aaron Dessner, known for his work with The National and collaborations with artists including Taylor Swift. The pair co-wrote and co-produced “Draw You Out”, bringing together Kahan’s distinctive folk-influenced songwriting and Dessner’s atmospheric production.
The collaboration follows their previous creative work on Kahan’s music, continuing a partnership built around emotionally rich arrangements and thoughtful storytelling. Recorded at Long Pond Studio in New York, alongside studios in Nashville, the track was developed to reflect the film’s themes while retaining the singer’s personal musical identity.
Kahan has described writing for the film as an opportunity he had long hoped to experience. A longtime admirer of Collins’ books and the film adaptations, he approached the project with a connection to the characters and their emotional journeys. He has highlighted the story’s combination of tragedy and hope as a central inspiration for the song.
Entering the World of The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is a prequel set 24 years before the events of the original The Hunger Games story. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film follows a young Haymitch Abernathy from District 12 as he enters the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
The film features Joseph Zada as Haymitch, alongside Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace, Ralph Fiennes and other cast members. It revisits the world of Panem while exploring the experiences that shaped one of the franchise’s most recognisable characters.
Music has played an important role throughout The Hunger Games films, helping establish atmosphere and deepen the emotional impact of key moments. Kahan’s “Draw You Out” continues that tradition, offering a musical perspective on the relationships and personal struggles at the heart of the prequel.
A New Chapter for Noah Kahan
Known for songs that explore vulnerability, relationships and personal reflection, Kahan has built a dedicated international audience through his honest storytelling and folk-inspired sound. His contribution to Sunrise on the Reaping introduces his music to the franchise’s established fanbase while expanding his work into film songwriting.
“Draw You Out” leads The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album), a 29-track soundtrack scheduled for release on 13 November 2026. The film itself is set to arrive in cinemas on 20 November.
With “Draw You Out”, Noah Kahan brings his emotionally direct approach to a story centred on love, loss and resilience. The single offers an early glimpse of the film’s musical world and marks a new creative milestone for the singer-songwriter as he ventures further into music written specifically for cinema.
