Fund raising for artists has come a long way in recent months, never mind years. The initial disdain that was shown to artists on bended-knee looking to finance their latest project has passed, and quite rightly – the connection between artist and audience has rarely been stronger in such circumstances. Now, Mike Batt, the serial producer and talismanic calling card of many an odd production is looking for backers to release the first “proper” recording of The Hunting of the Snark. We particularly like the unnamed artists he can’t reveal whom he’s going to recruit but hasn’t asked yet. Hope that works out well, Mike!

“Since I released my “The Hunting Of The Snark” in the eighties, and after successful concert versions of the initial form of it, the record and DVD of which are still currently available, I have decided to record the full Two-hour show with all the songs and music links that were in the West End show. This will contain songs which were written after the concept album, in order to develop it as the full theatrical show, such as “The Butchery Waltz”, “The Trouble With You”, “Nursery Pictures’ , “We Know You’re Out There”, “Whatever You Believe” and many others, never before recorded – in additional to existing favourites “As Long As The Moon Can Shine”, “Children Of The Sky” and “The Snooker Song” from the original album/production.
I shall recruit a cast of 10 well-known singer/actors (but cannot identify them yet because I have not yet approached them). I shall record with a full orchestra and top rhythm players. My reputation for recruiting the highest level talent has been demonstrated many times.
But I need your help to finance this ambitious recording, (and other, live events to be announced during this campaign, so do return from time to time for updates). Who knows, it might be the start of a re-launch of a touring production of the piece that is without doubt the centrepiece, to date, of my life’s work.
