Following the sad reconfirmation of a modern social epidemic firmly having taking root in the UK, the premier live performance of ‘HHUMANN X‘ – the latest project from Neo-Classical composer Toni Castells, has taken aim to raise awareness of loneliness through his premier live performance taking place at LSO ST. Lukes in Barbican, London on 20th October.

Shocked at the findings of former MP Jo Cox’s Commission of Loneliness, (which divulged that more than 9 million people in the UK alone suffer from the affliction), Castells has produced a record centred around the subject of a paradox that highlights a growing social isolation in times of heightened technological connectivity,

The live event is also set to feature More Than Just a Choir – a community choir based in North London that works with people suffering from mental illness and social isolation. The performance will then utilise a staging metaphor which is designed to strengthen an idea that isolation and mental illness are invisible to most of us – The choir will appear towards the end of the piece, as they’ll be unknowingly sitting amongst the audience before their entry.

Toni Castells’ overall sound has been developed from a foundation of classical training combined with an inventive use of modern technology to produce a mixture of dreamy, cinematic and poetic soundscapes.

His music has since been described as “Morricone meets Satie” by Michael Haas, producer of prize-winning recordings with major classical artists including Zubin Mehta, Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniel Barenboim, Cecilia Bartoli and Luciano Pavarotti.
